After picking up the Desperate Stand deck, I am ready to take the Oath of the Gatewatch!

I really like this deck. It is a White/Black deck with Cohort as it's main strategy. First, play some low level white Allies like Expedition Envoy and Cliffside Lookout. Then put out some Clerics to either gain health or zap my opponent's health, then Vampire Envoy to summon hordes of Zombies. If I haven't won the game by then, bring out Munda's Vanguard and my opponent is beyond frustrated. There aren't a lot of spells, but the ones I do have stop enemies from attacking, and kill big enemies that would make quick work against my slow health regen.

The two boosters add some interesting choices for Black and could potentially make White more overpowered, but until I play the deck more I won't know where I need to make improvements.

I have a loving memory of the Magic franchise.

As a young girl, watching my Dad play with all of his friends, I was entranced by White and Green cards. Let's be honest: I just liked the pictures of beautiful Angels and big bears. He started teaching me the game when I was about 7 and I had a load of fun playing, despite not knowing a thing about building decks. I just said, "I want an Angel deck Daddyo! Oh and some elves and bears!" Then he would obligingly build me what I wanted while trying to persuade me to play Red or Black.

My Dad was a big fan of Black or Black/Red decks, so I soon learned to loath them after constantly having my beautiful peons destroyed by ugly zombies and hordes of orcs. We never really played with Blue. Apparently, most people who play blue are kind of assholes. For example: Dad only played Blue against friends that pissed him off and he wanted to humiliate. He was a really good Blue player and apparently that makes him a bad person. *Giggle*

Recently, I have been cultivating a love of Blue (I know, I'm a bad person) and a new appreciation for Black, while Dad's interest in the game has sadly waned. This means I will have to get a Red/Black deck that he can play with me or drag him to some Friday Night Magic.

I have started down the fantastical path of Magic The Gathering! I am so happy to be back in the game. :)

Lets be a Renegade and play some Blue!

Until Next Time,
Nal
